Partial Knee Replacement

Not all knee arthritis requires a total joint replacement. The knee joint is divided into three "compartments": the medial (inner), lateral (outer), and patellofemoral (under the kneecap). **Partial Knee Replacement** (Unicondylar Knee Arthroplasty) is a precision surgery that only replaces the damaged section of the knee, leaving the healthy cartilage and all your natural ligaments intact.

Before the Surgery: Precise X-rays and MRI scans are required to definitively prove the arthritis is isolated.

During the Procedure: The surgeon makes a smaller incision than a total knee replacement. They carefully resurface only the damaged compartment with a small metal and plastic implant. Because the healthy parts of the knee and the ligaments are left completely untouched, surgical trauma is significantly minimized. The procedure takes about 1 hour.
