This is a quick, minimally invasive procedure performed at Prakash Hospital that permanently destroys (ablates) the endometrium—the inner lining of the uterus that bleeds every month. For most women, this drastically reduces their menstrual flow to just light spotting, or stops their periods entirely, without the need for major abdominal surgery.

Before the Procedure: We will perform a biopsy of the uterine lining to ensure there are no precancerous or cancerous cells present before destroying the tissue.

During the Procedure: This is a short procedure (often taking less than 15 minutes) performed under general anesthesia or heavy sedation. There are no incisions. A slender wand is passed through the vagina and cervix into the uterus. The wand then uses extreme heat, radiofrequency energy, or heated fluid to safely burn away the entire inner lining of the uterus.

After the Procedure: The tools are removed, and you will wake up in recovery. Because there are no surgical incisions, you will go home the same day.
